First Look: Nike Air More Uptempo Slides “In Your Face”
The hybrid slides from Nike get "in your face" in a good way.
One of Nike’s entries into the increasingly-crowded slide arena is a pair of slides reworked from the Air More Uptempo silhouette. Simply named Nike Air More Uptempo Slides, it reimagines the iconic “AIR” upper of the unofficial Scottie Pippen signature shoe and features the same visible Air units on the midsole. The only design change from shoes to slides is the removal of the laces.
Since the introduction of the Air More Uptempo Slides last year, we have seen two colorways drop—a Black and a Blue Gradient. Now, in a move that pays homage to another classic Air More Uptempo colorway, Nike is releasing the Air More Uptempo Slides in a “In Your Face” colorway.
The OG Air More Uptempo “In Your Face” was released in 2017 and featured a clean color scheme of White, Black and Varsity Red. The “AIR” lettering, which borrows from graffiti art, was blown out of proportion and extends across the midsole right down to the outsole.
On the Slides, the upper is constructed using similar White leather and the same outsize “AIR” lettering returns in Black. Varsity Red adorns the Nike Swooshes—one on the forefoot and the other underfoot on the outsole. As per the earlier Air More Uptempo Slides, the midsole is once again packed with Nike’s proprietary Air units.
This pair of “In Your Face” might be the most classic Air More Uptempo Slides we have seen thus far. While we have some early images, a release date has not been confirmed yet. Follow along as we bring you more updates on this pair of hybrid slides.
