New Balance has been around for so long that they’ve gone through the ebb and flow of the industry several times over. These days thankfully, they’re on the up-and-up. Their back catalogue has been the fuel in their engine but new silhouettes have been on the steering wheel, going in a different direction. One such is the 9060.

It debuted last year with its hand held by Joe Freshgoods by way of two collaborative iterations. From there, it’s gone on to appear on runways like Mowalola’s Spring/Summer 2023 runway show in Paris. More inline releases since, and it’s carved out a sizeable following—in all things considered—a very short amount of time. The status quo is unchanged in 2023 as it rides off the inertia it started last year.

“Blue Haze” washes over the maximalist design with pastel hues. There’s a method to the madness as Khaki and Light Steel Blue dance around each other on the seemingly endless overlays. Although sporadic on the upper, the former lays claim on most of the midsole. Its uniformity only broken by the brown panel etched at the rear.

Some of its most notable details include the “N” logo on the profiles, dressed here in off-white to maximize its contrast considerately and considerably with the rest of the earthy color palette. Signature to the silhouette, the ABZORB shock technology adds dynamism to the heavily-inspired Y2K aesthetic.

There’s no firm release date just yet but they’re expected to come out within the year. Expect an RRP of US$150 when D-Day comes to pass.

In other interesting silhouettes, check out the NBA x Crocs two-pack weeks ahead of the highly anticipated All-Star Weekend.
