For Love & Hip-Hop: Nike Dunk High “Nike Classic”
In celebration of 50 years of hip-hop.
[Update 28 Feb 2023] Official images of the upcoming Nike Dunk High “Classics” have recently emerged. In addition to what was previously reported, a gold microphone hangtag—inline with the other silhouettes in the “Classics” collection—will also be included with this Dunk High. While a release date has not been confirmed yet, take a look at the official images via the top slider above and stay tuned for more updates!
Hip-hop came into inception in the early 1970s in the Bronx, with its birth commonly credited to DJ Kool Herc. In the course of 50 years, Nike has played a pivotal part in outfitting some of its icons during its nascent stages, establishing inherently the image and identity of the culture.
For the genre’s golden anniversary, the Swoosh will celebrate it by delivering special iterations of some of the silhouettes most beloved by its fans, or as a culture, its followers. One such subsumed in the untitled pack is the Nike Dunk High.
Xanadu forms the base layer, complemented by the various black overlays. The two engulf the heavily-tumbled leather that form the exterior’s makeup. Further up, the black laces presides over the Grey throat that stretches through to the tongue and permeating the sockliner.
On the crown sits a commemorative graphic featuring Nike’s branding. The faded finish on the profile Swooshes adds another dimension, adding to the tooling that encompass the underlying aged theme of the design. Rounding off the pair holistically is the yellowed midsole, supported by the black outsole underfoot.
Not much is known about the pair just yet but they’re expected to arrive within the coming months. Before that, expect an update regarding the price point and other release details here.
