New Balance 2002R “Nightwatch Green” Arrives with a Detachable Pouch
The Kangaroo of the 2002R lineup.
The rise of the New Balance 2002R seems to see no end, with the Boston-based brand dropping numerous colorways under Yue Wu’s “Refined Future” vision (or more commonly known as Protection Pack, much to the designer’s chagrin) and collaborative partners clamoring to dress the silhouette in their signature palettes. But appearing subtly between these louder revamps are the NB2002R-with-a-pouch drops — or as we like to call them, the 2002R Kangaroos.
It’s essentially the well-loved model equipped with a detachable nylon pouch for you to store little trinkets, be it spare laces, keys or even some emergency cash. While the previous New Balance 2002R Pouch was dressed in a tonal cool grey, it now returns with a retro-esque “Nightwatch Green”.
Atop sporty white knit mesh are leather overlays in a slightly off-white “Sea Salt” color. Forest green hits land on the lining, shaggy suede heel tab and trims the iconic N-logo. Rounding out the slightly-aged look are cream-colored N-ERGY midsoles. The handy pouch follows the two-tone color of the 2002R, seeing a green underside and a white gridded top. New Balance’s wordmark is printed across the length of the pouch, allowing it to be a recognizable NB product even if it’s been separated from its parental shoe.
This New Balance 2002R “Nightwatch Green” is expected to land on New Balance within the year and will retail for US$140. In the meantime, closers looks are available in the slider above (courtesy of @43einhalb.
