[Update 6 Mar 2023] Following a teaser earlier this year, a release date for the collaborative pair has now surfaced alongside new images. Take a better look at the pair on the article slider above and expect it to officially drop on 20 May. In the meantime, we will keep you updated here when more info surfaces.
Founded in 2017 by artist Josue Thomas, Los Angeles-based brand GALLERY DEPT. is a big name in the streetwear and hip-hop scene, with attaining the likes of Off-White’s late founder Virgil Abloh and many more. While an ambiguous Instagram post in 2021 suggested that he was going to discontinue the brand, it seems like the artist has more plans in store with a Lanvin collaboration that was launched the following year alongside the Miami flagship opening.
Forward to 2023, Thomas has taken to his Instagram to tease some works that he is currently working on and a pair of sneaker caught the attention of many. With a caption of “SS23 release”, the artist revealed a never-before-seen pair of Vans Old Skool.
Dubbed “Good Luck”, the pair features newspaper style prints on the canvas upper, overlayed with shaggy red suede stripe panels on the sides. Equipping yellow laces with written prints of “GOOD LUCK!”, an embroidered message of “ART THAT KILLS” also decorates the heel tabs of the sneaker. Lastly, Thomas stamps his passion of vintage clothing through a vintage finish on the midsoles with flipped GALLERY DEPT. logos.
No release details are known at the moment, but expect the GALLERY DEPT. x Vans Old Skool “Good Luck” to arrive in the coming months for SS23 via GALLERY DEPT. Until then, stay tuned for more updates here.
