[Update 30 Jan 2023] On-feet photos have emerged for the upcoming Nike Dunk Low 85 “Athletic Company”, courtesy of @prvt.selection. Through their latest images, it seems like this upcoming Dunk Low offering carries a much lighter tone than previously leaked photos. The red accents also seem to carry a more orange-hue, giving it a more vintage vibe that’s more inline with its retro theme. “LINE”

As much as Nike loves to innovate and release fresh designs every year, it also takes time to commemorate the silhouettes that formed its repertoire today. Among which is the iconic Nike Dunks.  After a stellar debut in the court in 1985, this college student favorite eventually found success as an every day street stomper and a cruising companion for skaters. The Dunk’s rich history prompted the “Just Do It” brand to release the Nike Dunk Low 85 — a commemoration of the model’s release year.

To further this retro remembrance, a new colorway and design has been layered onto the silhouette as part of Nike’s new-but-aged “Athletic Company” collection. Grey suede overlays are placed over a white canvas base for textural contrast. The Swoosh and lining adopt a classic red hue for a pop of color, but note that the Swoosh has a cracked finish, adding a vintage flair to the design.

“Athletic Dept 1972” is printed on the insole alongside a bulldog graphic, likely a nod to the year Nike came out with their own Swoosh-branded shoe but reimagined in a Varsity-themed look. Rounding out the aged aesthetic are yellowed midsoles and laces, making it seem as if this pair of Dunks truly survived through the 80s.

Official release details have yet to surface, but we expect more news to make its way to us soon. In the meantime, why not check out these Valentine’s Day-themed AF1s that’s too cute to handle?
