Nissin Foods and Converse Create Delicious Shoes Inspired by Instant Noodles
Wear the flavors of seafood and original ramen to keep your feet warm. Fret not; there is no added MSG.
From producing rubber-soled winterized shoes to catering for the military during World War II, Converse has gone a long way. The Massachusetts-based company’s portfolio is varied, ranging from its first global partnership with ADER ERROR in patchwork-style Chucks to the new era of opulence of technical maximalism with A-COLD-WALL. And now, a collaboration with Nissin Foods has welcomed us with fresh heat.
The Japanese convenience food brand’s signature flavors—the original and seafood instant ramen—are referenced in the heightened instalments of a pair of high-cut versions and one low-top version of the Converse All-Star R.
Constructed in pristine, white canvas uppers, the Converse logos are printed on the medial sides, while red or blue instant noodle embellishments are printed over the tongue and lateral sides to mimic the aforementioned flavors. Bar codes are added to the heel tabs to enhance the silhouette, and Nissin Foods logos are placed on the bottom heels to complete the look.
Moving on to the low-top style, these have black uppers with black and white Cup Noodle trademarks as well as large red Nissin Foods insignias all over them. To replicate the appearance of perfectly cooked noodles, the laces have been curled up.
As of the time of writing, Converse x Nissin Foods will be dropping its footwear capsule sometime in January 2023 with a retail price of JPY13,200 (~US$101). Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
