Three’s a Crowd: Vans x Palace Skateboards x GORE-TEX
One final hoorah for the Half Cab's 30th anniversary.
[Update 28 Dec] News of the collaboration surfaced about a day ago with nothing but the collaborators’ names to lead off of. Today, new information and images have come to light. It confirms some of the previously reported like the Half Cab ’92 being the centerpiece, and its Black, Navy, and Goldenrod renditions.
The trio will be released on 30 December Palace’s brick-and-click as well as Dover Street Market’s LA and London chapters. A Japan launch will take place simultaneously on the 31st, 11 AM (JST). The RRP is yet to be disclosed.
Palace have collaborated with Vans on some of their most iconic silhouettes like the Sk8-Hi, Old Skool and Authentic. Both bear an obvious skateboarding pedigree but the party’s about to become a crowd with GORE-TEX joining the fray.
Not much is known about the upcoming tripartite collaboration but the rumor mill has it that the iconic Half Cab will be the centerpiece. The silhouette will be coming off its 30th anniversary when the product arrives next year.
Seeing the first two’s collaborative body of work, it can be expected that their latest project would involve heavy graphics along with a vibrant color palette, which is hardly what GORE-TEX is usually associated with. Thus, it’ll be interesting to see their signature fabric integrated into the duo’s design language. Based on the leaked image from social media, there will be three colorways of the Half Cab. A brown, navy, and black.
More information should arrive in the coming weeks, until then however, have a look at Mizuno’s three-piece Fisherman Pack.
