Louis Vuitton Gets Yayoi Kusama-Fied in Latest Collaboration
Immerse yourself in the endless patterns of the opulent French brand and the self-described "obsessional artist" on the first day of 2023.
Louis Vuitton effortlessly combines elegance and ingenuity which represents history and innovation igniting dreams and fantasies. While the opulent French brand is known for its repeated pattern of gold “LV” monogram and clover-like motifs on dark brown background, Japanese contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama is selfsame, whose painting was influenced throughout her career by hallucinations, many of which featured fields of dots.
The luxury brand is reviving, evolving, and releasing ready-to-wear pieces in an effort to continue the trailblazing initial exchange with Kusama, after the inaugural relationship was announced in 2012.
Highlighting the LV Trainer Line sneakers in three color blocking shades—black, green, and red—white dominates the upper and gets Kusama-fied with infinite polka dots replacing the “LV” insignia to go along with its new design by the late creative director Virgil Abloh. The eyestays, the tongue, the heel seat, and the outsole are accented to add some splash of color. In addition, 90% recyclable and bio-sourced materials were used in the pair’s construction. Further examination reveals that the outsole is composed of 94% recycled polyurethane, enhancing sustainability and resulting in a lighter, more comfortable fit.
Transport your senses into the world of limitless imagination. Leather items, accessories, and perfumes, along with targeted advertising and a number of high-profile activations, connecting the dots to the 360 collection.
