The Nike Air Max FlyKnit Racer debuted 10 years ago but its still seeing new iterations and colorways despite the frontier of science in new terra forma. That’s a testament to the longevity of its design. Released in 2012, the pair was created to be hard-wearing yet reduce its place in the landfills after retirement, after accompanying its wearer through the many runs taken.

It’s an amalgam of new and old technologies where the lightweight, breathable FlyKnit fabric meets the comfy cushioning of the Air Max, the signature air bubble window visible on the midsoles. Aesthetically, the upper is the most versatile consisting of one uniform textile allowing for a spectrum of colors to engulf it, or to let it gradate—like the titular “Fushia Dream”.

Like its namesake plant, the upper is a hallucinogenic mix of Black, Baltic Blue, Vivid Orange, Bright Crimson, and Fire Pink. And its adorned with black Nike Swooshes on the profiles and leather panels as the eyestays and heel counter. Rounding out the shoe, the contemporary design of the upper meets the proven and tested technology of the Air Max, through the white midsole that separates them.

There’s no firm release date on the pair just yet aside from a projected Spring 2023. They currently have a RRP of US$160. When the powers that be says it’s time, expect to see them on Nike’s brick-and-click.

While on the subject of high-performance running shoes, check out the upcoming five-piece “EKIDEN” pack.
