Following the lead of the Nike Cortez “Running Rabbit” and the Nike Dunk Low “Year of the Rabbit”, it insinuates the idea that a commemorative Chinese New Year pack is in the works at Beaverton HQ. To ascertain this is this thematic Air Force 1.

Its base layer a light tan, accompanied by vachetta overlays, wrapped around the mudguard, the eye stays, and the heel. There it becomes a stage for the tonal floral embroidery to dance on, gracefully moving from the fore to the rear.

Aside from this oriental touch, comes the white chenille Swooshes, a reference to the titular zodiac animal’s fur. The eyes are then led to the heel tab where the Nike branding is embroidered in jade green. Red adorns the insoles, the topmost eyelet, the “AIR” and as well as the adjacent lining embossed on the lateral heel. Rounding out the palette is a strong brown accenting the sock liner.

Contrary to the earlier-mentioned Cortez and Dunk low, it doesn’t have a rabbit graphic nor emblem embroidered on the upper. It instead relies on colors and textures to make the connection to the overarching theme. A clear crystal rubber outsole holds the shoe together underfoot. Final touches are applied through the small “AF1” embroidered on the vamp, downwards from the rope laces and the custom tongue tag.

No firm release details have been disclosed but with CNY over a month away, it can be assumed that more information will surface within the coming weeks.
