The “Martian” Comes Aboard the Nike Air Force 1 Low
An AF1 that's 'out of this world.'
Inspiration can come from the ether, from any space, or in this case, outer space. The motif seems inspired by the stereotypical pop culture depictions of UFOs and aliens from decades past—Roswell, his chrome vessel and all.
This iteration of the Air Force 1 arrives in the quintessential white base layer. The clean leather upper doesn’t deviate too far from the blueprint, sharing uniformity with the tonal white sole unit; from the laces to the insoles, to the outsoles underfoot. On the lateral midsole, as opposed to the “AIR” embossment, “NIKE” takes its spot, after lending its usual space on the tongue tag to the titular “Martian”.
Much like the believed color of its vessel, the profile Swooshes come adorned in “Metallic Silver”, as it does on the heel tab and tongue tag. In the latter two parts, beginning with the heel, a custom “Nike” branding is imprinted, a cartoonish flying saucer graphic substituting the “I” in the name. The motif is reiterated with the character taking its place on the insole, in the same vein it does on the silver tongue tag. The embroidery of the Swoosh on the vamp takes on the same hue.
No other information has been disclosed by Nike at the time of writing but they’re expected to see a release sometime next year.
