[Update 29 Nov 2022] More images of the second soft-hued Nike Dunk Low “Year of the Rabbit” have been shared by @prvt.selection. The design language is essentially the same as its predecessor, save for the color palette. With more angular looks, the tooling of the pair is more vivid such as the chenille on the tongue tag, profile Swooshes and the adjacent rabbits; the nubuck base layer, and the leather overlays.
A release date hasn’t been disclosed by Nike but with Chinese New Year in the horizon in January, more information should arrive imminently.
[Update 21 Nov 2022] A second colorway of the titular pair have just been revealed, ascertained by the leaked photo in the image slider. The motifs remain imbedded as it was for its predecessor, save for the color palette—dressed in a mix of fawn, sail, and cream.
Nike is no stranger to celebrating the Lunar New Year with stylistic zodiac or cultural motifs on its silhouettes, but this upcoming Nike Dunk Low for the Year of the Rabbit might be one of the most adorable yet.
Paying homage to the fourth animal to complete the Chinese zodiac race, the Swoosh and tongue tags have been upgraded with white fleece-like tufts to mimic the rabbit’s furry nature. The representative animal also makes a luxuriously gold appearance on the heel and on the insole. The Chinese character for rabbit, 兔 (tù), is embroidered in gold threads atop the white fluff to cement the references.
Beyond the animal symbols, the Swoosh also indulges in the vibrancy of Lunar New Year festivities by overlaying the Dunk’s beige suede base with royal blue and ruby red leather wraps. A pop of teal green makes it way onto the sockliner while lemon yellows hit the outsole. A gold dubrae etched with “2023” finishes off the celebratory references.
Given that the upcoming Chinese New Year starts on 23 Jan 2023, it is likely that this Nike Dunk Low “Year of the Rabbit” will only make it onto retail shelves next year. Till then, check out early looks courtesy of @woganwodeyang in the top slider.
