ballaholic x ASICS EX89 Goes From the Court to the Streets

Looking through the history of footwear, it is no doubt that basketball shoes have been a huge impact on today’s streetwear fashion. Reminiscing the old models we used to see on the courts, labels have taken a new approach to redefining the classics into lifestyle silhouettes that are meant for situations even outside the sports.
Sports label ASICS has given their 1989 classic “GEL-EXTREME” a new moderation through the introduction of the EX89 model. With NBA-inspired looks, to even collaborating with KITH’s Ronnie Fieg, the silhouette will see its latest rendition with streetwear label ballaholic.
Introducing the ballaholic x ASICS EX89, the sneaker shows a vintage aesthetic with cream leather uppers, while grey and black panels finishes the shoe-tongues, outsoles and counter lining. Keeping the design minimal with little co-branding, the duo’s identities are marked on the tongue labels with ASICS’ logo and a basketball, referencing to ballaholic’s roots and the culture.
With an exclusive in-store release at ballaholic TOKYO set for 19th November, a general release of the ballaholic x ASICS EX89 will follow on 20th November via ballaholic Online and ASICS, for a retail price of 16,500 JPY (~US$120).
