KITH head honcho, Ronnie Fieg has been scouring the ASICS archives since 2007. Stumbling upon the ASICS EX89, he subsumed the pair into his Autumn/Winter 2022 collection, reimagining the late ’80s basketball silhouette with his three iterations of the pair inspired by the colors of his hometown team, the New York Knicks.

Now it seems that ASICS themselves will borrow his MO and release their own adopting the colors of some of the NBA’s most-storied franchises. Other team-inspired colorways could be in order but the the Lakers, Celtics, and Knicks will be at the vanguard.

Clean white leather bases set the stage. From there, the team arrives accenting the pair on the profiles, the heel clip, and components on its most prominent angles. The same on the outsole underfoot for the Lakers and Knicks iterations. The Celtics one however gets an era-appropriate, pre-aged look on the sole unit.

A release date hasn’t been disclosed by ASICS, but that’s likely to change in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
