[Update 7 Dec 2022] This upcoming New Balance 2002R Protection Pack “Black/Grey” has received an updated release date. Together with another Khaki/Grey pair, the Black/Grey will be released in the summer of 2023, retailing at a price of US$150.
The New Balance 2002R has swiftly emerged as one of the most adored models in the brand’s heritage-rich archives under the “Refined Future” moniker. The “Protection Pack,” a capsule collection with the look of a wearable relic, has just recently made a comeback and is now presenting a cozy “Black/Grey” suit for fall.
A layer of color-matched torn up pig suede creates an eroding ensemble on top of a breathable mesh black base, while the soft suede overlays on the forefoot and lower ankle create light and smoke grey tones. Dark greys are back to support the perforated heel counter and continue the greyscale theme, while titular red accents claim the 2002R branding and jet-blacks wrap up along with the redesigned “N” emblem and nubuck tongue construction. The neutral-toned look of cream and beige on the solitary unit is completed by the vivid red “N-ERGY” branding.
