[Update 30 Nov 2022] Release dates are here for the sacai x Nike Cortez 4.0 “Iron Grey” and its accompanying apparel collection! According to account @le.syndrome, the Cortez will see the (limited) light during the Hello sacai pop-up in Shibuya on 8 Dec. Offered via a lottery raffle, winners will receive the pairs at a later date. The apparel, which melds sports and vogue fashion, will enjoy a global release on 13 Dec and it is expected that the sacai x Nike Cortez 4.0 “Grey” will also meet international audiences then, if not slightly later.

Given that the first limited drop will happen within Tokyo, pairs have started to surface on our SNKRDUNK App before its global drop. While we wait for the anticipated dates to come, check out more campaign images provided by the two disruptive brands.

[Update 9 Nov 2022] More pictures of the sacai x Nike collaboration has been released, alongside a firmer confirmation that this collection will see a November 2022 release.

Previously thought to be a monochromatic capsule, images of an army green long coat has been revealed. While the coat remains structurally similar to its black counterpart, the olive iteration’s mix of hues allows the overlays and sacai’s design touches to be more pronounced. Black cargo pants with co-branded tabs will also join the capsule. More pictures available in the slider above!

LINE
Hybridity is at the core of sacai’s designs. Known to explore the multidimensionality of gender and their conventionally representative garments, sacai’s ability to fuse elements while still ensuring that their source inspirations are distinct is a celebrated feat. Nike tapped onto this technical prowess of sacai for its NikeLab women’s line in 2015, and the Japanese label has continued to infuse the Swoosh’s products with the brand’s compound aesthetic through various collaborations. 7 years in, sacai x Nike sneakers have accumulated a loyal base of sneakerheads and fashion insiders alike.

Following the LDWaffle and Blazer Mid projects, the sacai x Nike Cortez 4.0 is the partnership’s next crown jewel, and an all-gray version is making its debut this Winter 2022. While this release retains all of the OG’s doubled design points—layered heel, shadowed Swoosh, duplicated tongue, extended sole—it has been washed over with a moodier grey palette.

In line with this anticipated grey sacai Cortez, the collaboration will also see a line of apparel joining the release. The hero product is, understandably, the long winter-ready long line jacket that looks like a windbreaker/trench coat hybrid. Fitted with a stand up collar that extends the neck, toggles to cinch in the waist, and flaps at the back, the coat looks like a formal trench from the back. Yet, when faced head on, sacai’s iconic zippers and metal buttons give the jacket a relaxed, street style. Overlapping Nike and sacai wordmarks make up the branding on the chest.

For the other side of the world that doesn’t see chilly winters, but rather delve into their sunnier months as the year ends, there is also a tee iteration. Albeit with less design elements, it still carries the distinctive sacai zippers.

Despite the reveal of pictures, and an established Winter release, exact dates are still blowing in the wind. However, stay stationed on our site as we’ll update this article as soon as release details have solidified in the ice.

In other Nike collaborations, the AJ1 Retro High is unleashing its spidey senses.
