More Than a Sneaker: Veja x Amélie Pichard Taps Into Outdoors and Sustainability
100% sustainable in style.
French footwear brand Veja may have been popularized in recent years by Meghan Markle, but its story goes back to the early aughts. Founded in 2004 and launching its first sneaker a year later, they have teamed up with Amélie Pichard to create an outdoors-inspired sneaker in 3 colorways this fall.
At first look, the silhouette reminisced the Balenciaga Speed sneakers but with more resistance. One noteworthy feature is the whole construction that is made up of sustainable materials—which Veja advocates. With a tongue-in-cheek nod to luxury brands and knock-offs, the French duo added a monogrammed pattern to its stretchy upper.
The upper is made up of 100% recycled polyester V-Knit—woven into one cohesive piece to prevent excess fabric and wastage. To add on, the remaining construction of the sneaker is made up of sugar cane, rice waste and organic cotton.
The sneaker by Veja x Amélie Pichard is already available on Veja’s website with a retail price of US$260 in “White”, “Beige” and “Black”. It’s more than a sneaker, it’s a story on feet.
