A Healthy Dose of the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 “Wheat Grass”
Give your footwear rotation more life, from the "Oatmeal" colorway to this.
[Update 3 Feb 2023] The Nike Zoom Vomero 5’s reign continues through 2023 with a range of updated colorways. Following an understated black and white duo, the Zoom Vomero 5 “Wheat Grass” is set to drop on 10 February with the same US$160 price tag.
The contemporary dad shoe silhouette from Nike continues to gain momentum and the brown shades on the Wheat Grass adds to its easy-to-wear quality. Along with a confirmed release date, here’s an early on-foot look of this versatile pair. Stay tuned for more updates!
The Nike Zoom Vomero 5, first released in 2010, experienced a breakthrough with its A-COLD-WALL collaboration in 2018 and has since been making its rounds within Nike’s inline releases. Most recently, it was subsumed into the 2023 Doernbecher Freestyle collection. Riding off that intertia, the silhouette returns in another earth-toned iteration, following the trail of its “Oatmeal” and “Cobblestone” predecessors.
Introduced in Wheat Grass, Gold Suede, and Cacao Wow, the shoe sticks to the blueprint save for the aforementioned color scheme. The open mesh base remains a mainstay along with the various leather overlays and stitched-on Swooshes on its profiles. The contemporary design choices are evident not only through the convoluted mix-material construction, but also through the TPU heel cages, and the reflective 3M panels that line the pair on the mudguard, frames on the quarter, and the heel.
A retail price tag has been set at US$160, and will go live on Nike’s brick-and-click stores sometime in 2022. There’s no exact release date attached to the pair at the time of writing.
If you’re gravitating to this colorway, consider the Nike Air Max 97 “Brown Corduroy”.
