The biggest sportswear brands have paid increased attention to their Latinx community in recent years. Much like Nike, adidas brings to the table two new offerings inspired by Mexico’s Day of the Dead. In this collection, they bring their Hyperturf model back to the kitchen and cook up two new specially-dedicated colorways, derivative of the “ofrendas” or offerings family members make for their dearly-departed: one inspired by mole, a traditional Mexican dish; another by the holiday-staple pink sugar skulls.

The former comes dressed in a “cazuela” brown outfit on the mudguards and the Adiprene sole unit, with the rest of the upper in an understated black. Pink accents make their way around the shoe, along with yellow serrated stitching on the profiles. All the details come together, complemented by the butterfly embroidery on the heel.

For the second colorway, the Hyperturf arrives in a tonal uniform pink across the entire upper. All the motif from its contemporary is carried over, save for one. The spiderweb, floral and other graphics peering through the overlays illuminate in the dark.

Both pairs are currently available in adidas Mexico’s web store.

In other gorpcore-ready silhouettes from adidas, check out the adidas Originals SST, an iteration inspired by summer camp tools.
