Air Force 1’s 40th anniversary celebrations sees no halt in momentum even as the year slowly trickles to an end. The low iteration of the AF1, in particular, has been receiving the most attention from the Swoosh team with a slew of colorways dressing the silhouette. But besides fresh color palettes, Nike is also painting the iconic model with a just-as-celebrated colorway — University Blue.

With UNC Blue being a signature hue under the Jumpman’s umbrella, the marrying of this color atop one of Nike’s most influential shoes is a momentous union fit for its fourth decade of celebrations. As you would expect, the AF1’s smooth leather base is layered with University of Carolina’s sky blue. The Swoosh, midsole and laces retain their unadorned white look. Marking this as an anniversary design is the label on the tongue, which has “Anniversary Edition” stitched in golden threads. Nike Air branding is also embroidered on the heel.

This Nike Air Force 1 Low “Color of the Month/University Blue” is slated for release on 11 November and will retail for US$150. For campaign imagery that’s tinged with dreamy nostalgia, check out the top slider.
