[Update 9 Nov] A release date of 18th November has been confirmed for the Nike Air Force 1 Mid “Tokyo 2003”. Set to release alongside the Nike Air Trainer 1 “Tokyo 2003”, the collection will be made available via Nike SNKRS and selected retailers.

2022 may be winding down but for the Nike Air Force 1, the celebrations for its 40th anniversary is far from reaching its conclusion. As per tradition, anniversary pairs usually get exciting special edition, commemorative collaborations and iterations; and as one of Nike’s greatest exports, the titular shoe gets top billing.

Joining the Air Trainer 1 for the “Tokyo 2003” pack, this retrofitting pays homage to Japanese street culture of days past, and some of its best when premium materials were more commonly used on sneakers.

The thematic-release sees the silhouette in its staple form and color blocking, save for the reptilian overlays and detailing. These, manifested in a violet crocodile leather adorn the classic white base on the mudguard moving along the eye stays, ankle collar and strap, and lastly, the heel tab and counter.

A complementary smooth violet leather takes the form of the die-cut Swooshes on both sides. For accoutrement, comes an accompanying custom “TYO 03” hangtag on the laces, also debossed on the lateral heel.

There’s no word about when the release is precisely but it’s expected to be within the coming weeks on SNKRS, with a price tag of US$130.
