Toronto-based brand and retailer Better Gift Shop started in 2017, with hopes of creating cultural, social and artistic ideas to life. Through collaborative innitiatives, the brand globally connects people and ideas within the community.

This time, teaming up with Vault by Vans, the duo has worked on a new iteration of the Style 36 VLT and Half Cab VLT. Drawing inspiration from the boutique storefront, the Style 36 VLT is covered with a ‘Forest Green’ that resembles the building’s exterior. The Half Cab VLT on the other hand, uses the ‘Burgundy’ and ‘Pewter’ from the storefront gates as the main body palette.

Lastly, the collection recruits Hong Luck Kung Fu Club, a non-profit institution for never-before-seen campaign images featuring Lion Dance performance in the footwear.

“Community is everything, and we’ve always wanted to design a shoe that takes inspiration from our surroundings,” said the Better Gift Shop team. “Working with our neighbors is something we’ve always wanted to do, and Vans gave us that opportunity. Incorporating the Hong Luck Kung Fu Club was a natural integration into the campaign.”

Retailing at $160 CAD and $180 CAD respectively, the collection will be made available from 8th October via Better Gift Shop and selected Vault by Vans retailers including Dover Street Market and BEAMS.
