Wrap Your Mind, and Feet: Suicoke’s Furoshiki “Futon” Collection
A forward-thinking design, constructed by looking back to the past.
Suicoke by now, should be part of the fashion lexicon, at least for the au courant. For years, the Japanese label has introduced some of the most forward-thinking and unique footwear into the market. They’ve pushed the boundaries of even the most long-standing design traditions, being at the fore of the evolution of footwear aesthetics. Turning the most rigid silhouettes like winter boots and sandals, avant-garde.
Riding on the same modus operandi, they adopt and apply furoshiki to deliver their incoming Fall/Winter 2022 collection. Furoshiki is the Japanese method of cloth-wrapping that’s been used for millenniums. The art of folding fabrics was used for eons to package and protect treasures and other items. With Suicoke reuniting with Vibram, this time they’ll be wrapping your feet.
Incorporating one of Vibram’s hallmarks, their Wrapping Sole gets integrated into the collection, reworked into both a high and low-top variation. As the winter months arrive, the release of the FUROSHIKI “Futon” collection couldn’t be more timely.
The offerings are designed with a heat-retentive padded fabric to make sure your feet stay warm, as your footwear stays ‘fire.’ And for added measure, they’ll also come equipped with Vibram’s Arctic Grip technology for traction along with wrapping straps, and heel tactical detailing. Both silhouettes will come in two colors: an all-black, and a mix of beige, forest green, wheat, eggshell, and white.
The collection is already out on Suicoke’s website since 30th September. On the other end of the spectrum, comes the flamboyant Steven Harrington x crocs “Quickstrike”.
