You know something’s really happening when key people start to post about it, and we can’t help but feel our excitement building after Eric Koston and P-Rod teased closer looks of the Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 “Black Cat”.

Circulating in the rumor mill as early as May this year was the return of Nike SB x Jordan, who first made their partnership public in 2014 through the release of Nike SB’s Lance Mountain x Air Jordan 1. It was an exciting collaborative effort that saw the Swoosh’s skateboarding foray mingle with its legacy in the basketball court. Besides that, AJ1s also have a historically carved position in skateboard culture. Many early skaters who preferred high-top support donned the basketball silhouette for their cruises. AJ1’s well-advertised desire to breakaway from traditional hoop models also found resonance with the rebellious skate crowd, allowing the Jumpman’s first iteration to have a home outside of the polished courts.

Even years later, Jordans are still a keen choice for the skateboarding crowd. To have them officially release a collaborative pair in honor of this relationship is always an exciting affair, especially when they come in a utilitarian “Black Cat” look.

Through samples and teased images from the Nike Skateboarding veteran crew, the forthcoming pair will come in a suede construction. The black look will come with updated cushioning designed for ramp performance, but its look up top remains distinctively a Jordan 4. Its simple design allows its performance capabilities to be the forefront of its appeal, which is perhaps the biggest show of confidence from the Swoosh of its in-line models.

Though not much is known outside of a potential March 2023 release, we’ll be sure to keep you updated. In the meantime, check out the leaked images in the slider above.

In other anticipated collaborations, Hiroshi Fujiwara has teased another Fragment x Travis Scott Jordan.
