Nike SB Ishod Puts On the 1997–98 “76ers” Jersey
For the ballin' skater.
New Jersey native Ishod Wair is living every skater’s dream. It’s one thing to be able to go pro, and entirely another to have their own signature sneaker with Nike SB. While he’s been on the Swoosh’s SB roster since 2016, having had his own Dunk Low Pro, the 2013 Thrasher Skater of the Year got his own line earlier this year. And before 2022’s even over, he’s getting his first collaboration.
Skating and basketball revolve around an orbit not too far from each other, so once in awhile, a pairing like this can happen: an NBA edition of a skate shoe. The sneaker is thematically dressed in the colors of the Philadelphia 76ers, particularly the one from the 1997-18 season as evidenced on the embroidery on the heel counter.
Black serves as the base of the aesthetic, giving contrast to the red, white, and blue decorating the upper. Red takes hold of all the branding elements like the Swooshes, Ishod’s logo on the tongue, and more importantly, the detailing on the heel. The rear features the 76ers signature star in grey, highlighted with a red outline.
Blue comes through the intersection between the upper and sole unit, enveloping the circumference before culminating in the embossed Nike SB logo on the heel. A wavy grid pattern takes shape on the quarter and the tongue, with a rubber gum sole supporting the React foam installed above it.
The NBA x Nike SB Ishod “76ers” was released on 23rd September and is available now on Nike.com for US$110.
