White Mountaineering, Japanese outdoors-inspired streetwear label, has a three prong ethos to its pieces: design, utility and technology. Each collection will have a fusion of the these elements, bridging high fashion aesthetic and durable performance. Think vogue silhouettes that incorporate technical fabrics like GORE-TEX, fleece and corduroy. This approach towards garments has been transferred to UGG on multiple occasions — it makes sense, given that the functional winter staple made fashion statements back in the day (or arguably even now, with the Y2K renaissance). The pair are teaming up for their sixth collaboration to date, and this specific winter-ready collection features a pair of sneakers and boots.

The sneaker-iteration is a sequel to the first UGG x White Mountaineering CA805 Sneaker which appeared in F/W 2022. In this CA805 V2, the sneaker ensures comfortable walks through the Treadlite UGG Sole, which provides cushioned support with no extra weight. While UGG takes care of the performance, White Mountaineering takes the reign on the upper’s design. On the lateral side are co-branding elements. Nubuck and suede are the materials of choice for the overlay, adding a layer of luxe to the sneaker. Toothy patterns appear on the mudguard and heel area for added visual interest. Color-wise, the upper layers shades of gray, giving the shoe a calculated dimensional aesthetic that would be a hit with techwear lovers.

Following this sneaker is a UGG x White Mountaineering Neumal High Zip Boot which is much simpler in its projection. With an air of sophistication, the soft waterproof upper comes in a modern black and is outfitted with a zipper on the front. The soft design allows the boot to have a fitted wrap around your feet for a sleek look. But this is balanced out with White Mountaineering’s signature ultra-thick sole — can’t lose that high fashion touch, after all!

Though both footwear options were debuted on the same runway, they will see differing release dates. The UGG x White Mountaineering CA805 V2 Sneaker will make its debut on 24 September and retail for JPY35,200 (~US$244) while the UGG x White Mountaineering Neumal High Zip Boots will see the light on 8 October for JPY36,300 (~US$251). Both will be made available on UGG’s website.
