[Update 25 Oct] The release date for the “Cobalt Pulse” colorway has been scheduled for 4th November at Socialstatuspgh.com. However, raffle for the pair is currently open and will close on the 1st. The pair will have a price tag of US$200.

[Update 30 Sep] For those who’ve waiting in bated breath for the pair, you might have to hold it a little longer. But just for another two weeks. Social Status announced in a statement on their Instagram of the release date’s push from 30th September to 13th October, 11am (EST), with raffles open until the 9th. The drop for the white one is still being worked out however. Check the source post here for more information.

Social Status should be making bank after collecting all these “Penny’s”, having previously worked on two colorways of the Nike Air Max Penny 1 jointly known as the “Recess” pack. Now, the proverbial bell has rung and everybody’s off to the “Playground”—as this followup collection is named.

Dedicated to the summertime traditions on the basketball court: the rivalries, the matchups, the intense competition. A nod to the trash-talking, the brutal physicalities, laying waste to their adversaries, but at the same giving the shoes’ namesake their flowers.

Similar to its predecessor, the two pairs in the pack feature a similar colorway. One in a Black-based upper with University Blue accents, while the other a White/Bone/University Blue dressing; the former bearing a strong resemblance to the original makeup of its forebearer.

The “Playground” collection will see the two Penny 2s released in an action figure-styled shoebox, an homage to the famous ’90s Air Penny line commercial featuring Lil Penny the doll, voiced by Chris Rock. Other interesting embellishments include the special miniature Penny 2 bronze hangtag.

Social Status has revealed that the Black/White colorway will be released on 20th September through an in-store raffle at every Whitaker Group store location, along with a general online raffle, and a Discord member-only draw. Anything left in the inventory will be sold from 30th September on Social Status’ webstore. The release of the other colorway will be confirmed at a later date.
