CONCEPTS Questions the Answers with Vault by Vans
Let them eat Concepts x Vans cake!
[Update 4 Oct 2022] Official details have landed! Dubbed the “Question the Answers” collection, this CONCEPTS x Vault by Vans reunion will be dropping on 7 Oct via CONCEPTS with a full assemblage of footwear and apparel. Exceeding expectations, the collaborative project will also include a checkerboard mohair revamp of Sk8-Hi and Authentic in 80’s two tones — minty green, diner red and chic black.
As Deon Point elaborates, “Given the nod to both Damier prints and Westwood-era mohair, the “Question the Answers” collection was the perfect drop for us to flex our luxury streetwear sensibility”. Oh, and did we mention that the shoe box is inspired by the Sex Pistols?
Nods to the retro carry forward into the apparel designs, which come in funky two-tones that unmistakably scream disco-ready. Prices for the entire collection ranges from US$90 to US$110. More images are available in the slider, just look up!
Deon Point, creative director of retail store Concepts, has always been enamored with quirky facts that most people are unaware of. That was how the famed Concepts x Nike DB Dunk “Lobster” series came about — Deon was simply awed at the fact that the sea creatures came in wondrous shades, and wanted to translate his fascination into a collaborative sneaker project. This creative approach to sneaker design is the shining quality that makes Concepts stand out in the increasingly saturated space and is why anticipation always builds when a possible partnership with them is announced.
With 2022 being Concepts’ 25th Anniversary, collaborations are to be expected. And it seems Vans will be bringing the birthday cake — a checkerboard Battenberg-esque cake, to be exact! For the celebrations, the Old Skool repeats brown and yellow checkers across the upper, obscuring the usual side stripe in the shaggy suede festivities. The outsole mimics the Battenberg design for a complete “is it cake?” moment. This collaborative project will be housed in a special shoe box that’s printed with co-branding.
No official release details have been baked into this Concepts x Vans Old Skool NS LX, but we are sure more information will soon make its appearance.
In the meantime, why not check out the latest Grey colorway to join the iconic ALD x New Balance 550 range?
