Ye has officially cut ties with long-term partner Gap, claiming that “A king can’t live in someone else’s castle. A king has to make his own castle.” With such a bold statement, there’s a high chance that the collaborative bridge between Ye and adidas will start to see hazy days — and in an almost poetic way, the upcoming colorway for the Yeezy Slide (after Azure, presumedly) will be a “Smoke Grey” look.
Yeezy Slide “Onyx” and “Smoke Grey” comparison
Understandably, many have compared this colorway to the coveted jet-black Onyx, but side-by-side comparisons reveal that the Smoke Grey iteration is a lighter shade that matches more closely with the BOOST’s woven blacks. And when it comes to pairing slides with your fit, it’s always down to the little details. Compared to the Onyx’s deeper shade, this pair will definitely be a seamless fit into those with a lighter, raw closet palette. Per Yeezy’s tonal approach to slides, the lightweight but durable foam slip-on will carry the same grooved outsole in an all-over Smoke Grey color.
No official release details have been released, and with the burning feud between Ye and the Trefoil, we expect it to remain hazy for a while. In the meantime, why not check out adidas’ recent spotlighting of its archival Adimatic model?
