AMBUSH® × Levi’s: The Canadian Tuxedo Elevated
A workwear aesthetic more Ye and Julia Fox, than JT and Britney.
For the awhile now, VERBAL and YOON’s AMBUSH® label has been at the vanguard of some of the most intriguing collaborations. Whether it’s reworking the Nike Dunk High, Daruma dolls or Kendamas, the pair live up to their label’s name by catching everyone off guard.
Americana may have been invented in the West, but as with all things the Japanese tend to do, they elevated it—going as far making the Canadian Tuxedo, the denim x denim aesthetic, acceptable fashion again, more in the line of Ye and Julia Fox than Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears in the early noughties.
Partnering with Levi’s, the quintessence of Americana fashion, they produce a three-piece collection consisting of a loose-fitting trucker jacket, along with the 517 boot cut and a pair of baggy jeans.
The jacket comes with a special edition back patch that combines Levi’s two horses logo with AMBUSH’s. The traditional buttons also get retrofitted, instead with a unique bottle shank cap. For the two pairs of jeans, the aforementioned back patch gets a silver-plated update. All the pieces come with a mid-indigo wash for a worn-out aesthetic.
The collection will be produced in limited quantities with a lottery taking place at Levi’s online store, and the trucker jacket an exclusive to AMBUSH. Everything else will be available in AMBUSH’s brick-and-click, Levi’s Harajuku flagship and Osaka store from 16th September.
In the same vein, A Bathing Ape preserves the Japanese fascination with college Americana fashion through the BAPE BLACK Fall/Winter 2022 Collection.
