All the Leaked Sneakers from Nike Just Do It Day 2022
Nike JDI Day 2022 may be over, but the leaks and teasers of upcoming sneakers keep coming in. We round them all up for you.
Nike Just Do It (JDI) Day is a one-day extravaganza that aims to celebrate the achievements of Nike staff in the past year. After a two-year hiatus, Nike JDI Day returned to the Nike World Headquarters at Beaverton, Oregon, on 8 September last week.
All the big names under the Nike family were in attendance, from Travis Scott, Drake, Tom Sachs, LeBron James, Lisa Leslie, Jayson Tatum, Eric Koston, Colin Kaepernick to Ronaldo… the list goes on. There were get-together sports events like basketball and soccer where Nike employees got to interact with the personalities.
To mark the end of Nike JDI Day, there was also an awards show-cum-concert called Nike Maxim Awards Show that “recognizes the teams and projects that best reflect its values and moves its business, brand and purpose forward.” Drake was the emcee and Travis performed.
Nike JDI Day 2022 may be over, but the leaks and teasers of upcoming sneakers keep coming in. A potential Travis Scott x Air Jordan 7? Drake’s flashy NOCTA apparel debut? A rare Air Jordan in the wild? We round them all up for you.
Drake, NOCTA Air Zoom Flight 95 and his Nike Braid
Drake wasted no time to heat things up. On the red carpet, the rap mogul appeared in a pair of never-before-seen crimson red NOCTA Air Zoom Flight 95. He was first seen wearing a similar pair in white to a Raptors game back in April. Post JDI Day, the frequent Nike collaborator continued to tease the shoes via Instagram.
On top of the upcoming sneakers, the certified lover boy also debuted a black NOCTA x Nike jacket that features a flashing LED Swoosh, and a fresh hairdo (below).
More Travis Scott Air Jordans
Travis Scott played kickball with Tom Sachs and performed live for his Nike fam at its Oregon HQ, all while donning the highly-anticipated womens-exclusive Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low OG.
There was also a bunch of Cactus Jack x Nike co-branded merch, including t-shirts and shorts, specially produced for Nike JDI Day. Rumor also has it that some Nike staff received unreleased pairs of Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 High in Reverse Mocha.
But the biggest and most unexpected news has got to be a leak from sneaker account @_PO2345 that a Travis Scott x Air Jordan 7 is on the horizon, further expanding Cactus Jack’s stronghold into the Jordan Brand universe. The account also claimed that Cactus Jack and Nike are working on a completely new sneaker. If you needed more confirmation, sources close to both parties have also signaled that Travis and Nike are looking forward to extend their lucrative partnership.
The Comeback of Nu’ Retro Air Jordan 1
Amidst all the brouhaha over celebrity appearances and their hyped sneakers at Nike JDI Day, a pair of rare Air Jordan quietly made a re-appearance for the first time in two decades. The shoe in question, the Nu’ Retro Air Jordan 1, was spotted on Lakers star Russell Westbrook at the red carpet.
First launched in 2002, the Nu’ Retro Air Jordan 1 blends elements from the Jordan 2 with the AJ1 Low. One of its most recognizable design features is the side panels with debossed Jordan Wings logo on them.
News of its return first broke early this year. Now, with Westbrook previewing the classic Chicago-inspired red/black/white colorway, it looks like a retro release of the Nu’ Retro Air Jordan 1 may happen real soon.
