[Update 20 Sep 2022] There aren’t any official images yet of the collection, officially named “Performance Art”. But from the newly-surfaced ones at least, it gives more opportunities to discern some of the 993s’ finer details.
Pastel tones run across the trio’s suede makeup, built over a mesh grey base, while yellowed midsoles and laces give the collection a trendy, aged aesthetic. Each will come with a “Performance Art” card providing information on the ethos behind the collection.
A release date hasn’t been announced but it should soon see a drop through Joe Freshgoods online store, Chicago-based pop-up shops, and a wider release subsequently at select New Balance retailers.
As Joe Freshgoods’ self-appointed last name suggests, there’s always some fresh goods up the Chicago designer’s sleeves. After reminiscing some Good Old Days with jersey brand Mitchel & Ness, the man is looking forward to creating a “Performance Art” future with old flame New Balance.
The American brand is no stranger to Freshgoods, who has previously applied his storytelling approach to design onto the 2002R, 550 and 9060 models. But with the fall and winter seasons fast approaching, JFG is mirroring the chilly weather with a cool-toned color palette. We can expect to see a full apparel range of sweat suits and thick tops that will come in avocado greens, yellowed creams and faded navy blues.
Excitingly, Freshgoods will also be applying his thoughtful touch on the New Balance MR993 (likely part of the 990v3 series). Two colorways will be made available, with the first in a baby shower-esque pink and blue and the next in pink/blue/mint green. A shoe box is also displayed in the designer’s latest Instagram carousel, with the words “Performance Art” printed under the lid. This hints at the theme Freshgoods will adopt in this next collection, and we are sure it’ll tie to the Black American experience in a heartfelt manner.
Though details are unfortunately limited, we are sure they’ll reveal themselves in time. Check back to ensure that you never miss out on any details.
In other New Balance news, the 1906D is receiving a Protection Pack distress.
