[Update 4 Oct 2022] The roll-out of these UNDERCOVER collaborative pairs have been surprisingly smooth considering how much they were in the fog for the better part of the year. Based on the campaign images below, there is at least one more colorway yet to be seen with the arrival of the “Grey Fog”—the colorway that most resembles the collection’s inspiration, ACG’s Air Revaderchi.

Also, the most important piece of news have also been announced: 12th October. All three pairs so far will be made available at SNKRS with a price tag of US$165.

[Update 3 Oct 2022] Rejoice — half of the UNDERCOVER x Nike AF1 series has been un(der)covered! Revealed to be the black/white colorway that was previously teased, it features the expected GORE-TEX protected leather construction. Down below, the extended heel provides an added layer of protection and lace security, ensuring that you can stealthily manoeuvre through the streets in ease. Though official images have dropped (check it out in the top slider), release dates are still in incognito mode. Stay tuned for more info! 

Official images have finally been released for the first of four Air Force One Lows in Jun Takahashi’s UNDERCOVER “Once in a Lifetime” 2022 S/S Men’s Collection. First one out the gate, at the vanguard is the all-white.

There’s no telling which of the other three would follow between the classic Red Plum/Pro Gold, the Black, or the Renaissance-inspired graphic colorway; but they’re all a unique amalgam of two classic silhouettes in Nike’s catalogue: The Air Force One and the quintessence of the ACG line—the Air Revaderchi.

Bruce Kilgore’s for-basketball silhouette has gone through many evolutions in its 40 years, and for its Ruby anniversary, it borrows components from the Revaderchi to go from the urban blacktop to the great outdoors. What this silhouette lacks in color, it more than makes up for in technical modifications.

UNDERCOVER’s AF1 retains much of its original design DNA, save for the added elevated neoprene collar and TPU heel cages that reaches out to the top eyestay, creating a lacing system unique to this collaborative pair. GORE-TEX membrane is integrated into the entirety of the upper, a component made apparent by the black tag on the lateral forefoot.

Branding elements also take an elevated turn. Instead of the ACG graphic on the rubberized tongue badge, a collaboration-specific, dual-branding logo takes its place, with the design decision applied to the heel cages well. As for the finishing touches, comes UNDERCOVER’s signature “Balance/Chaos” motif that traverses across all of the brand’s collaborations, even for their take on the Clarks Wallabee.

The collection debuted in 2021 when the first images of UNDERCOVER’s “Once in a Lifetime” collection were released. Considering the apparel has been out for awhile, the sneakers may have been affected by the global supply chain issues that have plagued the industry since the pandemic.

Thus, there’s no confirmed release date yet for this seraphic all-white or the others, but you can have a sneak peak of them here.
