UNDERCOVER Brings Chaos & Balance onto the Clarks Wallabee

The Clarks Wallabee goes UNDERCOVER.

Coming off a collaboration with Moncler, the Clarks Wallabee is set for another image makeover under the punk-leaning UNDERCOVER. The Japanese label was founded by streetwear legend Jun Takahashi, whose conceptual work has earned him praise from some of the biggest designers — including the disruptive Rei Kawakubo — around the world. Though UNDERCOVER’s runways are far from typical and tend to feature deconstructed or subversive looks, the brand’s collaborations tend towards more minimal inclusions of house codes.

This holds true for this upcoming collaboration with Clarks, which sees the boot-style Wallabee take on their OG “Black” and “Beige” colorways. On each are embroidered lightning bolts on the lining near the collar. UNDERCOVER’s “CHAOS” and “BALANCE” motif are printed in white on each toebox. These words, which juxtapose each other, are core to UNDERCOVER. Jun Takahashi has always been enamored by the duality of humanity. Where there is light, there are shadows. Contrasting beings and feelings always coexist in the same ecosystem, thus translating into the idea of CHAOS and BALANCE.

The Wallabee will also feature custom hangtags branded with both Clarks and UNDERCOVER’s logos. Silver hardware embellishes the boot while a crepe sole adds a vintage feel to the look. Finishing touches include alternate rope laces that match their respective colorways.

This first UNDERCOVER x Clarks Wallabee collaboration will launch on 3 September via UNDERCOVER and Dover Street Market. They will retail for ¥33,000 (~US$236).

In other collaborative news, MCM has partnered with Puma to create a monogrammed Slipstream.
