Denim Meets Camo in this A.P.C. x BAPE Apparel Collection
Never would we have thought that not camo-shy BAPE would join hands with minimalistic A.P.C., but we aren't complaining.

When Daniel Caesar sang “My blue jeans will last me all my life” in his song Japanese Denim, we like to think he was referring to A.P.C.’s denim pants. It lines up — the brand gained popularity among denim aficionados for their utilisation of Japanese selvedge denim, which is untouched by chemicals or dyes. Though their offerings now extend past denim products, their core philosophy still revolves around ensuring that functionality is not compromised for sophisticated design. No surprise that A.P.C. has a seat reserved with the minimalism crowd, but its pared-back reputation makes this upcoming collaboration with unabashedly loud Bathing APE (or BAPE) slightly confounding. At least, on the surface.
As explained by A.P.C.’s founder Jean Touitou, “In the ’90s, A.P.C. was very popular in Japan and I went to Tokyo often, at least twice a year. When my friend Hiroshi Fujiwara introduced me to A BATHING APE, I was immediately fascinated, because it managed to anchor a cinematic obsession in a streetwear culture whose influence became and remains key.” Given that A.P.C. could also be considered a trailblazer in the streetwear scene, with it being the first brand that allowed Kanye to unleash his apparel creativity on a collection, it is to be expected that Touitou felt resonance with BAPE’s influential camo-mark on the culture.
Now, in their first ever collaborative effort, the two brands fuse their iconic elements to come up with a carefully considered collection of tailored denim, fun-loving Baby Milo appearances and, of course, all-over camos. This will be part of A.P.C.’s INTERACTION series, which is essentially a term that A.P.C. uses to park its partnerships. The 15th installation in line, it will include a full suite of streetwear staples: hoodies, denim jackets with a detachable camo hood, tees that feature Baby Milo and A.P.C. branding, jeans as well as tote bags, shoulder bags, caps and key chains.
Beyond Baby Milo lying lazily atop an A.P.C. cloud, the apparel also see a special co-branding that amalgamates the two streetwear giants: “A Bathing A.P.C/E” is printed across select offerings, making it blatant that it is part of the collaborative wardrobe.
This BAPE x A.P.C. INTERACTION #15 apparel collection will launch on 3 September on both BAPE and A.P.C.’s webshops. The pieces range from¥4,400 (~US$32) to ¥57,200 (~US$413).
