Nike has been pushing out retro basketball models from its archives including a couple of Penny Hardaway’s signature shoes. Next on the list is the futuristic Nike Air Foamposite One “Metallic Red” that was last seen in 2017.

The first Nike Air Foamposite was originally released in 1997 and, at the time, revolutionized the sneaker game with its otherworldly design and how it was made—by pouring synthetic liquid into a mold. In 2017, Nike retro-ed the Air Foamposite One in a Metallic Red colorway in celebration of the sneaker’s 20th anniversary. Now, the rumor mill has it that the Swoosh will be bringing back this legacy basketball sneaker again in the Summer of 2023.

The Nike air Foamposite One Metallic Red features the titular “Varsity Red” color on its metallic Foamposite shell, which wraps around an upper made of black mesh and nubuck. Penny’s signature “1 Cent” logo appears on the heel, tongue, and translucent outsole. Above the outsole, lays a piece of carbon fiber plate.

The 2023 edition of the Nike Air Foamposite is reportedly going to be priced at US$230. Follow along as we bring you more release updates and photos.
