Nike Dunk Low By You Restocks Today, Probably

Rumour has it that Nike's highly coveted customisation service is going live yet again. Here's what happened yesterday, and our advice for today.

Ever felt like Nike’s many Dunk Low designs are lacking… flavour? That you could’ve done it better if you were the designer? If that applies to you, you’d better gear up and get ready, because Nike’s modern-day recreation of the legendary NIKEiD platform dropped yesterday, and might be restocking today.

Named Nike Dunk Low By You, the app initially released in Canada via Nike SNKRS Exclusive Access on 23 Aug, 10:45AM ET. Along with the ability to customise your own Dunk Lows, it also offered a set of pre-made colourways to immediately check out with. I think you can see where this is going – while many did attempt to create entirely unique Dunk Lows, just as many people opted to simply buy the pre-made colourways. This caused the limited stock of Dunks to sell out before any of the budding sneaker designers had a chance to complete their designs (or at least, based on the Internet’s court of public opinion).

Though yesterday ended with disappointing results, there’s still reason to have hope. Rumour has it that Nike Dunk Low By You will be restocking on Exclusive Access in US on 24 Aug, 10:45AM ET. Though these claims have been disputed, it can’t hurt to check, can it? Based on yesterday’s experience, if you’re looking to customise a pair of completely unique Dunk Lows, prepare the design you have in mind before the app goes live. Once you’re on, it’s an Olympic 100m sprint, Top Gun Maverick, Minecraft Speedrun race all the way to check-out. Alternatively, a large volume of Dunk Lows have began filtering through SNKRDUNK Marketplace – check them out here.

NIKEiD Sneaker Customisation Nike Dunk Low By You New Sneakers

OG sneakerheads would remember the glory days of Nike’s customisation service, originally named NIKEiD. As the big brother of Nike By You, NIKEiD allowed homemade designers to customise a huge range of their classic silhouettes, from Dunks to TN (Tuned Air) Air Max Plus. Wild. Though we still hold a glimmer of hope that Nike will restart this service, we’ll just have to content ourselves with the limited options provided by Nike By You, as well as similar offerings by other brands – such as New Balance’s NB1 Custom Shoes and Yeezy’s (fan-made) customisation app.

Speaking of unique Nike Dunks, check out NYC’s FAUST x Nike Dunk High, created in heartfelt commemoration to his late best friend.
