[Update 23 Aug 2022] Official release details and campaign images have landed for this anticipated (and limited!) A Ma Maniére x Nike Air Ship “Game Royal”! It will drop online at A Ma Maniére’s webshop on 26 August, 11AM ET (11PM SGT) for US$140. Take a peek at the slider gallery for more images!
It’s no secret that Atlanta-based A Ma Maniére has been cozying up with the Jordan team as of late, with a slew of collaborative releases dropping this year. But it seems like the sneaker retail store’s admiration for Michael Jordan goes beyond the basketball player’s signature shoes with the Swoosh – they’re now roped into the revival of the Nike Air Ship too.
The Nike Air Ship was the Jordans before the Jordans. They were the shoes the NBA star wore when he first signed with Nike back in ’84, but was slowly pushed into obscurity by the subsequent release of his signature line. However, with Nike pushing out archival pieces as of late, it’s no surprise that they are honing in and reviving the Air Ship. Given that A Ma Maniére’s classy touches are involved in the creative mix, the Nike Air Ship has been elevated with a “Game Royal” colorway.
In this iteration, the original color blocking is retained, but with royal navy accents coating the heel, Swoosh and outsole. The rest of the upper is swathed in a clean white leather, reminiscent of the classic 80’s high-top look. It was also revealed in pictures tweeted by @glencocolaflare that this collaboration is a limited release, with only 2300 pairs available. Each shoe will be individually numbered on the back of the tongue for additional exclusivity, amping up the desirability of this refresh.
This A Ma Maniére x Air Ship “Game Royal” is expected to release this Fall 2022 on A Ma Maniére’s web shop. They will be made available in Men’s sizing with a price tag of US$140.
In the meantime, why not check out this Air Jordan 7 “Afrobeats” with an all-tan leather upper?
