A Healthier Choice: Nike Dunk Low WMNS “Avocado”

You are what you eat, but you are not a shoe.

But if you don’t want to eat your Avocados, Nike will let you wear them. By no means are avocados considered a rare fruit but it is rare how the sneaker’s design sticks so closely to its motif.

To begin, the olive textured leather base strongly resembles the outer skin of the fruit with a tonal green lining representing the inside of it.

Next, there’s the sticker on the forefoot that usually holds information about the real produce. Here, Nike craftily uses it as a branding opportunity. On the underside of the tongue hangs a familiar Nutrition Facts label, by which we assume (I mean, we don’t claim to be nutritionists but we Googled) are somewhat accurate readings.

Getting this pair ready for the market, these Dunk Lows will come in an interesting packaging that includes a mesh grocer’s bag.

Saving the best bit of detail for last: these Avocado Dunk Lows are secretly a wearaway sneaker with the aforementioned olive base a mere coating to reveal a green foundation, resembling the actual fruit’s mesocarp.

The pair, not pear, will be ready for (non-edible) consumption from August 24th on SNKRS for US$120. Until then, eat your hearts out.

If you’re not too health-conscious with your sneaker diet, try the Puma x Coca-Cola Slipstream Sneaker & Rider FV. Nothing like a good ol’ Coca-Cola.
