Today’s Forecast: Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance Rainier Ahead
Rain, rain, go away. Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance Rainier is on its way!
Update 13 Jan 2023] After its initial release on Aimé Leon Dore’s website last month, the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance Rainier “Beige/Purple” is now set for a global release on 13th Jan. You can pick one up from New Balance via their website now.
[Update 28 Nov 2022] Looks like the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance Rainier collection is finally arriving but with a slightly different lineup from expected. Releasing in three variations, the lineup focuses on suede uppers with an additional “Beige/Purple” colorway, alongside the previously leaked “Grey/Navy” and “Brown/Green” colorways. With a release date confirmed for 16th December, the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance Rainier collection will be made available via Aimé Leon Dore.
[Update 3 Nov 2022] Official images for the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance Rainier have surfaced, giving us a clearer look at the beloved 2016 hiking boot from New Balance. True to earlier leaks, the New Balance Rainier features a tanned leather wrapped over waterproof nylon, and is finished up with D-ring eyestays and a debossed NB logo. No release dates or additional info is available, so stay tuned for more updates to come.
Aimé Leon Dore is here to prove that their minimal and clean aesthetic transcends silhouettes. In images provided by avid outdoorist Kyle Kivijarvi, Aimé Leon Dore is expanding its New Balance collection by remastering the Rainier—a trail shoe donned by Alpinist Lou Whittaker, thus making it a proven model that has the ability to scale Mount Everest.
The first Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance Rainer collaborative refresh sees a two-toned gray suede taking over the overlay panels and eyelets. Purple-toned blues envelop the Cordura canvas twill and ankle collar, which is padded for ample support. For extra grip, a rugged Vibram outsole in black is attached. No premium hiking shoe is complete without some GORE-TEX weatherpoofing protection, ensuring that harsh climates are only a minor hindrance and not a complete disaster. NB’s motion logo makes a debossed appearance on the suede upper and leather tongue, just above the ALD logo.
A second colorway is also available in warm browns, which gives off a more classic trail shoe look. Those familiar with the New Balance’s hiking shoe line will see some resemblance to New Balance’s own Rainier Remastered 2016, which featured brown pigskin lining.
These Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance Rainer boots are expected to be part of the Fall/Winter 2022 collection, so expect more news to drop soon. In the meantime, why not check out these upcoming high-top Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 650R?
