Look Who Showed Up: Anti Social Social Club x Martha Stewart

Anti Social Social Club has been quiet (pun intended) in recent times but Martha Stewart's inviting them back into the party.

What Robert Downey Jr. did for Marvel, Martha Stewart might do for Anti Social Social Club. In the seven years since its inception in 2015, ASSC has already gone through a rocket rise and a meteoric fall. Once the crème de la crème for hypebeasts worldwide, their trademark curvy logo was seen on the likes of tastemakers such as Ye and G-Dragon, amongst other A-listers. The brand grew bigger and faster than their legs could carry them leading to an eventual implosion, now finding themselves sitting on the outside — aptly, as their name suggests.

In May, ASSC was acquired by Marquee Brands, the conglomerate that also owns the Martha Stewart brand. Quickly pairing the two in a surprising but ultimately fantastic collaboration: a streetwear label past its zenith that now also sells pastel-colored trash cans and sex toys, and the coolest 80-year old billionaire, business-mogul in history with a G-pass stamped by Snoop Dogg himself.

In a July 25th Instagram post, Martha Stewart announced the collaboration: “my anti social social club @antisocialsocialclub t shirts and hoodies (2images and 2 styles and 2 colors) drop on july 30 at 11 am ET and 8am PT. get ready. set your clocks!!!! they will be a sell out!!!!!!!”

The collection will come in black and white overlaid with two images of one of the most recognizable pop culture icons today. In one, she’s seen enjoying some shellfish, holding an oyster over her lips, staring into the camera (wild thoughts); in the other, she’s happily holding a lobster by the tail, enjoying her best life, as her undamning prerogative. On the back carries their dual-branding with Anti Social Social Club in its signature typography and the “O” in it bearing Martha Stewart’s logo.

The classic streetwear pairing of “celebrity imagery–box logo” approach continues to cultivate hype in the status quo; and with the unlikely duo coming together, it’s bound to sell out as Martha and her billionaire-level, business accumen predicts.

The items will be available in the Anti Social Social Club webstore on July 30th. Sweatshirts are priced at US$84.69 while tees cost US$52.69. If you’re trying to get a piece of this collection, listen to Martha and set your clocks.
