[Update 27 Oct 2022] Hot on the heels of their sold-out “Shadow Grey” 1906R, the long-rumored drop of the N.HOOLYWOOD x INVINCIBLE x New Balance 2002R “Gore-Tex” is finally happening—official images and a 3 November release date just came through.

This 2002R GTX triple collab takes things up a notch by adding Gore-Tex to the upper, officially turning the 2002R into an all-terrain gorpcore footwear. On top of the OG white laces, each pair also comes with three additional sets of laces in black, blue and grey.

Along with the shoe, the trio are also releasing an apparel capsule consisting of a sweatshirt, a windbreaker, a track pants, and a t-shirt featuring the same shade of blue.

It’s not every day that we get a triple collaboration, not least one that had brought us fresh, unexpected silhouettes.

Now, it looks like Japan’s N.HOOLYWOOD, Taiwan’s INVINCIBLE and New Balance will be reuniting for a second pair of collaborative New Balance 2002R. Both N.HOOLYWOOD and INVINCIBLE have previously released their own co-branded NB sneakers, and, in 2020, came together for a military-inspired 2002R.

For their second 2002R outing, the trio has decided to keep the design largely unchanged. In these early images, the shoe seems to be constructed using the same mesh upper and fitted with a similar shaggy suede overlay. Instead of tonal greys, it’s been given some color with shades of navy, purple and black.

In the 2020 edition, military elements like ripstop nylon adorn the sneaker. This time round, the biggest tooling surprise is perhaps the implementation of a GORE-TEX lining. With the addition of GORE-TEX, the 2002R has now been transformed into a waterproof, all-terrain shoe to match its rugged, worn-in look.
