Nothing is quite as powerful as an idea whose time has come, and as of late it’s been New Balance’s – except it nearly never was. When the original 2002 model was released in 2010, it was billed as a luxury runner with a price tag over the budget of the average consumer, and thus largely fell under their radar.
Nevertheless like a good dad, they’re always around – and so are his shoes, apparently. There’s been a newfound love for the maximalist, chunky, and extra-cushioned sneaker in recent times; but dads would probably call it ‘an appreciation for the convergence of art and science of sneakers.’
The new M2002 release comes in two colorways: the darker RXA and the paler RXB. Both are equipped with New Balance’s N-ergy and Abzorb technologies on the soles while the base of the upper is Gore-Tex. That’s an amalgamation of materials that can survive the toughest terrain and weather.
The RXA will be released first on 23rd July, while the RXB on 12th August. The lottery has unfortunately closed for the former but you can still try and get your hands on it come the wider release.
