[Release 2022] Donald Glover’s New Balance RC30 “Bespoke” Looks Like a Shoe Turned Inside-out
[Update 12 Jul 2022] Viewers that paid attention to the animated film posted on Donald Glover’s Instagram will notice that this deconstructed shoe makes an appearance near the end. The video’s premise is essentially this: two fictional mice that work at an agency are trying to devise a campaign, but eventually get into a scuffle. The shoe, caught in the fight, becomes distressed and looks like the cartoon version of this New Balance RC30. Subsequently, Donald Glover (or Childish Gambino, as some would know him as) posted on his Instagram stories a picture of his journal with instructions on how to cop these “bespoke” New Balance RC30.
But before the instructions are these words of critique: “Consumerism has ruined the intimacy within sneaker culture, we have aspirations of circumventing that.” Following it, one has to go to the Market by Gilga website, click on the mulberry, and fill in their details to join the mailing list.
Newly revealed pictures from @jjordvn and @butterypat also reveal the color codes of the New Balance RC30 Bespoke, along with possible twine rope laces. For the animated visuals and more pictures, keep scrolling!

Images of the New Balance RC30 “Bespoke”
The New Balance RC30 was originally thought to be a Donald Glover (or more commonly known as Childish Gambino) collaboration model, but information on this has been limited. Aside from a few pictures of the sleek shoes in “Sea Salt” and “Golden Hour” colorways, little has been known about the release of the model.
However, new images have surfaced via @le.syndrome, which depicts the New Balance RC30 with a deconstructed look. In this edition, messy stitches are exposed for all to see and the shoe looks like it has been turned inside-out. The hairy suede mudguard and heel seem to be taped onto the shoe while the tongue features frayed embroidery. This New Balance RC30 looks more like a work-in-progress that has been dismantled and reconstructed than a completed model, which is perhaps the essence of the deconstruction trend in fashion.
Derrida-derived deconstructionism’s influx into the sartorial space was sparked by various couture designers, with the likes of Yohji Yamamoto and Rei Kawakubo pioneering the look. Since then, houses like Maison Margiela and Balenciaga have been pushing this philosophy back into the scene. Balenciaga even released their own interpretation — the incredibly polarising “Destroyed Sneakers”.
No official news have been attached to these images, but it is speculated to drop in the later half of 2022. Check back to our magazine for more updates. For closer looks of the details on the deconstructed New Balance RC30, keep scrolling!
