Demna’s subversive take on fashion has undoubtedly seeped into Balenciaga’s runways, and its FW22 was characteristically disruptive. Aimed to project a dystopian future marred by climate change, the runway happened in a literal snow globe. A synthetic snow storm rages while models strutted down along the tracks in body morphing outfits, some of them had a particular shoe aiding their trudge through the “weather” — the Balenciaga HD sneaker.

A lace-up made from a flexible solid piece, the clog-like sneaker has cut-out panels and the shoe’s size stamped on the toe box. In usual silhouette-transgressing style, this Balenciaga HD sneaker sees a particularly bloated sole. The ridges stick out aggressively, giving the impression that there could just be enough grip to aid someone through blowing snow winds — or that could simply be the skills of the models.

This Balenciaga HD sneaker, available in black and off-white, is expected to release in the fall/winter season this year but no retail prices have been attached to it.
