The elusive Nike SB Dunk Low "eBay" first made its appearance back in August 2003.
[Update 8 Dec 2022] The update you have been waiting for—following months of leaks and speculation, the 2022 edition of the storied eBay x Nike SB Dunk Low “Sandy Bodecker” is finally getting a release on 17 December.
Before the official drop, Nike, eBay and the Bodecker Foundation, the charity organization founded by Sandy Bodecker himself, have come together to release a limited edition collector’s box set of 10. In this “skateable box set”, you’ll find: two pairs of SB Dunks—one pair of Tribute Dunk that looks like the original 2003 pair, and another 2022 chopped-up pair, a tongue-in-cheek commemorative saw, and a skateable box that can be repurposed for skating.
The collector’s box sets are open for auction till 14 December. All proceeds from the auction will go to the Bodecker Foundation. Alternatively, for the regular sneaker release, the 2022 eBay Nike SB Dunk will be available on Nike SNKRS come 17 December.
[Update 15 Sep 2022] On-foot photos of the eBay x Nike SB Dunk Low “Sandy Bodecker”, FKA Nike SB Dunk Low “eBay”, have surfaced. True to earlier leaks, the eBay x Nike SB Dunk has a spliced appearance that mimics the look of the chopped-up 2003 pair.
Nike also added a few details to honor the late Sandy Bodecker, who helped found the Nike SB division. Embroidered on the tongue label is the text “#NIKESBFOREVER”; the left and right insoles are printed with an image of Sandy Bodecker and his son, and the chopped-up 2003 eBay x Nike SB Dunk Low respectively.
The legendary sneaker is said to be produced in a limited quantity of only 8,000 pairs, and will be available via auction. Stay tuned for the latest on this pair of eBay x Nike SB Dunk Low “Sandy Bodecker”.
[Update 12 Jul 2022] Following leaks of the sample pair, an image of the actual upcoming Nike SB Dunk Low “eBay” has surfaced. This retail pair features the previously-seen spliced look with plastic segments and the same eBay colors as the original 2003 pair.
Only three pairs of Nike SB Dunk Low “eBay” were ever produced, with one pair being auctioned off for US$26,000, another going to the late Nike SB creative Sandy Bodecker, and the last pair sawed into four parts. No wonder when rumors of a wider release started swirling around, it set the sneaker community abuzz.
Now, it’s been confirmed that for Nike SB’s 20th anniversary, the Swoosh will be re-releasing this rare, legendary sneaker in a spliced (or “taped-together”) colorway, reminiscent of the chopped-up version.
Leaked images of an early sample from sneaker account @woganwodeyang suggest that the new Nike SB Dunk Low eBay will feature clear plastic segments to separate the four chopped-up pieces of uppers, emulating a spliced look. However, Nike may tweak the colors on the sample further to better resemble the original eBay Nike SB Dunk Low.
A release date has not been confirmed, so do follow along for the latest updates.
