QUICK LOOK:
In a market saturated with collaborations, how do you make sure your collab stands out from the rest? The answer, according to Puma, might be to partner with unexpected fun-loving brands—and the more, the merrier.
In a Japan-exclusive team up, Puma has joined hands with BEAMS and Barber Sakota, a barber shop from the Japanese town Shimotakaido, for a collection of apparel and a sneaker.
The sneaker of choice is the Puma Suede, which has been reimagined in elements representative of either Barber Sakota or BEAMS. Made in Japan, the Puma Suede features a full white suede upper. Both the upper and tongue have been widened, inspired by the loose silhouettes of BEAMS apparel.
Barber Sakota makes its influence felt with the tri-color stripes that appear on the insole and tongue lace loop, which also features Barber Sakota’s mascot. The “BBS” branding of Barber Sakota is printed together with Red and Blue stripes on the insole. There is also a debossed “BBS” at the heel.
The BEAMS x Barber Sakota x Puma Suede will be available at the barber shop’s pop-up at BEAMS Japan from 9 July. Scroll down for more campaign images of the sneaker and the rest of the collection.
