Strutting down Dior’s SS23 Menswear Collection were new footwear silhouettes that exuded GORP aesthetic to the tee: urban design style mixed with performance gear features for a hike-ready look. Adding on to the hype of these new styles, Dior Men’s footwear designer Thibo Denis shared close-ups of these styles via his Instagram.

The obvious design feature that stands out from this collection is the abstract lattice that cages the upper. Though we can’t say for sure if this is a spin on Dior’s iconic Cannage motif, the pattern does call to mind the likes of Salomon and Kiko Kostadinov’s ASICS. These new silhouettes will be made available in four earthy colorways, of which includes two muted green/brown combinations often seen on hiking shoes. The other two features vibrant pops of orange and turquoise for its lattice cage.

Under the web is a layer of khaki mesh and a chunky sole that solidifies the shoe’s place in the GORPcore aesthetic. It even includes large tooths on the outsole, which are common features on hiking or trail shoes for better grip.

Following its high fashion counterparts, Dior is also hopping onto the clog craze with their own rubber slip-on. Featuring the same lattice design, the web acts as permeable cage that ends with a solid toe bumper. The outsole is rippled for performance. Found on the laces are CD lace locks.

Rounding off the footwear collection is a more subtle rubber boot in tonal grey and a black derby shoe with a speed lacing system. Seen on the derby is also a water-resistant shroud.

Complementing these new Dior kicks are a new line of Dior Saddles. These Saddles come complete with 3D-printed forms and metal Cannage patterns that matches the look of the lattice cage.
