Following May 2022’s launch of the futuristic A-COLD-WALL* x Converse Aeon Active CX, the dynamic duo is teaming up once again for another innovative launch! Much like their previous collab, the A-COLD-WALL* x Converse Sponge Crater CX places a strong focus on sustainability: using as few components as possible, while recycling excess or scrap materials to produce these components.
The shoe makes use of Crater Foam and CX cushioning, “constructed to adapt across terrains” while “delivering comfort with every step”. Its design is heavily minimalist, featuring a grey textured Crater Foam exoskeleton forming a cocoon around the orange flat-knit, sock-like upper. That’s all. However, despite the “less is more” motif that envelops the design, it doesn’t take away from the visual appeal of the shoe, nor does it skimp on comfort and convenience. Instead, A-COLD-WALL* and Converse manage to utilise sustainability to increase the Sponge Crater CX’s value as a shoe.
The Sponge Crater CX will drop on 23 Jun, 10:00AM EDT on A-COLD-WALL* and Converse’s online stores. There isn’t currently any official information about the shoe’s retail price, so stay tuned for more release information over the coming weeks!
